Review on 💧 Waterproof Plastic Junction Box for Electronic Enclosures by Charles Lewellen

TL; DR - I bought 2 of these for DIY music gear, both turned out great! I use large boxes (200mm x 120mm x 75mm, black) for DIY electronics. Here are my key takeaways. Good properties: Easy to drill material. The thickness is ideal for mounting most components (switches, LEDs, potentiometers, power jacks, MIDI jacks, audio jacks, etc.). The top nuts built into the case are metal and will not wear out if you have to open it repeatedly. The box is very durable. The large box offers enough space inside for most DIY electronic components, including commonly seen circuit boards. (The photo shows that the boards are vertical and fit without problems) Bad features: - Internal racks are not very useful and are annoying. But they can be cancelled. The lid is slightly domed and the doming gets worse if you use a watertight seal. It would be great if there were 6 screws on the case instead of 4 - Exterior surfaces are easily scratched (by fingernails or tools). Handle with care! Recommendations: - I use DeWalt titanium drill bits and a regular hand drill to drill holes. - Use a small drill to make a pilot hole first before making a bigger hole. - Hole/slot edges tend to become serrated after drilling, I recommend using washers or flanged fasteners to hide defects. (Note the LED mounts in the photo) - Inner posts are easily removed with large pliers - Simple rubber friction feet prevent them from moving when sitting on a smooth surface - If you don't need waterproofing, I do not recommend using a waterproof sealer. This will bend the cap as you screw it on. The lid also fits without. I bought other boxes in other sizes from the same supplier. Smaller boxes do NOT have this lid deflection problem. Even then I still give the box 5 stars as the flex isn't very noticeable from a distance and doesn't affect use unless you stack other devices on top.
