I was willing to accept the gigantic, chunky nature of this thing and even used 4 AA batteries and waited a bit for it to bypass the can but what I did sharp splinters of metal in the hand and food are not tolerated. I just opened a can of tuna and when I tried to remove the lid I was stabbed in my hand by a very small piece of metal. It's really unsafe. I went back to my very old Kuhn-Rikon manual safety opener. I had tried the OXO before but it was so bulky and painful to use so I decided to try this battery powered one. NO! Return to the 10-year-old explorer instead.
