I bought this for $22 and it was in great condition. That's very short for the zoom range, and if you're just shooting on-the-go and outdoors or indoors with flash then that's probably fine. Just make sure you're not zooming in or viewing anything over 50%. Older digital cameras with lower resolutions will also work. This lens worked great in daylight and with flash. The resolution wasn't great when looking at pixels, but the colors looked good. Forget close focus. you gotta get away from it The biggest downside is shooting against the light or anywhere near the sun, even if it's out of frame. I once photographed a backlit seagull and there was no contrast and it had a cyan and magenta chromatic aberration about the size of a bird. Elsewhere it has been compared to a beer can for overall clarity and quality, but in real life there is no comparison. . In my opinion, a beer can makes the best shots by any measure. Sharpness, aperture, light transmission, color - all great in this lens.
