This is my favorite telephoto zoom lens. Really fast 4.5. Very compact and easy to carry. Super sharp images, this is without a doubt one of the best lenses I have ever used. When I photographed a duck with this lens and a Sony A57 at ISO 400, you could see very fine detail and every feather was very sharp. I love this lens so much I own 2 of them. Great lens for any price.

We bought it for the Sony A77. It fits perfectly, look for Minolta AF mounts, Md/MC mounts will not fit and will need adapters. The quality of the lens is also very good on the older Minolta. This is a very affordable lens that performs great and we've been able to get some amazing distance shots with it. f/4.5 speed doesn't require a tripod but can be a bit slow. Wonderful, first class lens, about half the weight and half the length of a 70-210 f/4 beer can and equal or nearly equal in image quality. I tested it on a Sony A99 (24MP full frame camera). I've found myself running out of pixels before sharpness is my benchmark for lens sharpness. Use the flash indoors and fast shutter speeds outdoors and you'll be amazed at the sharpness and clarity of this lens with great colors. Use f/8 if you can. I bought this for $22 and it was in great condition. That's very short for the zoom range, and if you're just shooting on-the-go and outdoors or indoors with flash then that's probably fine. Just make sure you're not zooming in or viewing anything over 50%. Older digital cameras with lower resolutions will also work. This lens worked great in daylight and with flash.
