I have a short (1 foot) fountain and the pumps seem to burn out every few years. This is a good replacement. Its power is not enough to pump a high fountain. I'm not sure why it says it has a special clog resistant housing as it's the same as other pumps I've used. I keep them from clogging by sticking the pump in an old nylon, nylon sock, or one of those horrible nylon things available when trying on shoes. Removing and flushing is much easier than cleaning the pump.
