Although the description clearly states that this is a mesh extender that can use the same SSID for both the extender and the main router, The installation guide recommends setting a unique SSID for the extender. The NETGEAR team actually answered a question about this (it appears to be on page 10 of the questions section here) stating that while you can specify the same SSID for the extender and the main router, there's no way to know which one Network the connecting device (expander or main router) is actually using. The NETGEAR team recommends using their new Orbi system if you want a true mesh system, but it costs $300 to $400. I hope the seller will comment on this to provide clarity for potential buyers.
