So the most important thing I wish I'd known before I bought this is that the ENTIRE TRUNK of the tree is wrapped in decorative tape. The edges of the tape are gummy all the way up the trunk and into the branches. It collects every piece of dust, every pet hair, every bit of lint from my clothes and sometimes the occasional gnat. The "tree like" pattern is also terrible. It's just black marks on white tape.The second thing I wish I'd known is that it's not dimmable.not even if you buy a dimmer switch to plug it into. It's VERY bright. I have it in my bedroom and in my fantasy world I was going to use my dimmer switch to lower the brightness considerably so I could sleep with it on. FANTASY DESTROYED! But it's still a really cute item.My last criticism is the base is made out of a very lightweight plastic, so if you're using it inside and not with the metal ground anchors made for your lawn, it topples over quite easily. I am planning to add some weights to the bottom to solve this issue.It IS cute however, so my plan is to spray paint the entire trunk white to cover up the ugly black marks and the sticky tape edges.All in all, it's not terrible for $55. There's one at Costco for like $80 that seems a little better quality, but this one is passable.
