I read other conflicting reviews before purchasing but decided to give it a try. I've tested this in several ways: 1) Put the receiver where I want to use it, then go to my mailbox and have someone in the house on the phone tell me if the unit will beep when it should . When there was only the wall of my house between me and the receiver, at a distance of about 70 meters, the device stopped beeping when I changed the sensor state. I needed another 75-100ft of range for my use. 2) After realizing it didn't have the right range, I ran some simple tests while walking around the house (in the same room as the receiver). With the receiver 15 feet behind me and the sensor in my hand (my body in between), the receiver doesn't reliably fire when it should. Out of about 4 attempts to activate it, 2 failed, and that was without any walls blocking the signal! If I can't trust a device to work reliably at close range, it's hopeless at a distance.
