What is the expiry date! in Household Items

I found a box of partially used tubes of two-part epoxy in an old tool box in my basement. I remember buying glue in the mid 60's after seeing how well it worked at a factory where I worked as a summer technician while I was in college. That thing back then was awesome, easy to spread and mix, easy to use but clean up if you were careless and put it where it didn't belong. Following the 1:1 ratio and following the directions, I mixed up two inch balls of glue and used the mixture to glue the broken handle onto an insulated mug that a few other glues couldn't fix anymore. The mixture set in about 90 seconds, roughly how I remember using it over 60 years ago. So now I'm waiting for a full cure (overnight) to see how strong the bond will be. I suppose it will last and make this product a really good deal. Most commercial epoxies that I've bought over the counter at hardware or craft stores tend to go bad in the box about a year after opening. What can be wrong with a shelf life of 60 years!? (The company only guarantees a two-year lifetime.)
