I work in dentistry but even I have struggled to find a decent OTC night service. I didn't want it to be too bulky (some people force you to keep your lips open all night, leading to dry mouth and an increased risk of tooth decay). And others were difficult to properly adhere to the teeth. Finally I stumbled across this one. What I like about it is that it only pads the back teeth so it's not as bulky as the others that cover ALL the teeth. And although it is only for the back molars/premolars, it still prevents the front teeth from collapsing. At first I wasn't sure how it would work because you put it open (no molding). But surprisingly, he manages to stay on top of me all night. Overall this is a good night time mouthguard to be over the counter. If you want the best of the best, you need to ask your dentist to order a custom night guard. But so far I'm happy with it. And I love the fact that I can easily wear it over my existing ortho retainer.
