I'll never get enough of these. If you're upgrading some older machines or converting spares to HTPCs or NAS, PSUs may only have one or two SATA connectors and I'll be looking through my parts baskets for a few of these adapters. I bought a few packs and they are exactly what they should be. I suspect that the fire reports are from GPU miners using SATA power supplies. SATA has a design draw limit of 4.5A (54W at 12V, much less than PCIe 75 connectors), and with a Molex > SATA > PCIe riser, so many connection points can go wrong. I don't know why anyone would try. If you're running your mining machine, spend a little more to set it up properly, or make absolutely sure your GPU isn't trying to pull more than 54W out of its slot.
