Works perfect for me
It only seems to work when the backlight is on and off. Ideal for me. Wiring is easy. When it is on, it connects the top pole to the bottom pole. It must be hot on one side and neutral on at least one of the other sides for the light to work. It also requires 110 volts and possibly AC, although this hasn't been tested.
