Review on Cuisinart SS-700 Single Serve Coffee Maker, Silver NO LONGER PRODUCED BY MANUFACTURER by Caroline Saunders

The unit probably failed before shipment and was never repaired.

This item is listed as Certified Refurbished. No, that is not so. I recently bought it from another seller and it was also in poor condition. Prior to purchasing this unit I emailed the seller asking if it was listed as 'new' and the seller replied that it had not been used since the factory refurbishment. This second unit failed immediately upon receipt and the failure mode is similar to most Keurig machines. A valve in the water line wears out from the water supply, and when pressure is applied, instead of forcing the water through the coffee into the cup, it pushes it back into the water tank through a small plastic elbow designed for this purpose. so that the water does not run all over the floor. This particular machine is partially idle with approximately half of the water going into the cup and the other half back into the tank. So the 12 ounce setting produces about 6 ounces of coffee. Unless this particularly troublesome valve was replaced during a so-called factory repair, then I doubt it was actually refurbished, simply reboxed and sold as 'new'. I am surprised that Revane participated in such a business practice. The seller will no doubt require return shipping at the buyer's expense, which is more than half the purchase price, protecting the seller from returning a large number of defective devices. In operation, this is an excellent coffee maker, but with a short lifespan due to improper use of the Keurig auto air valve for water supply. You can read about this issue on Keurig coffee makers.
