Review on πŸ”§ Authentic Ford F8CZ-6853-CA Crankcase Vent Tube by Sam Lund

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for 2001 Escort ZX2

This part is suitable for replacing the PCV vacuum hose on a Zetec 2.0L DOHC engine in a 2001 Ford Escort ZX2. The molded rubber elbows on the original hose failed after 15 years (as did the 3 molded vacuum hoses on the bulkhead). They collapse under vacuum (loss of crankcase ventilation = valve cover oil leak) and rupture (vacuum leak = idle instability). Don't waste your time with aftermarket elbows; Buy this part and get the job done the first time. If your PCV hose elbows have collapsed, crankcase backflow may have contaminated the FA1661 breather filter with oil (consider replacing). See my comment on this part's Revain list for a quick fix to a design flaw. INSTALLATION: The stock PCV hose attaches to the intake manifold port with a disposable ear tie (cut and discard). A hose clamp (21 mm or 13/16 inch, not included) is required to attach the new hose. This fitting is accessible from below and the PVC end is easily accessible from above. The hose assembly is a hard plastic tube with molded rubber bends at each end and a soft, spongy outer insulator (tube) for the whole. The thermostat housing presents a bottleneck for the installation. The PCV end is in the top of the bag and pulls it forward through the spine.
