Review on πŸ’‘ Enhanced Lumen Power: Discover Nite Ize Upgrade Flashlights! by Melvin House

best way to upgrade an old flashlight

The first one I bought didn't work at all in my Maglite 3D cell. Whether I used 2 or 3 new alkaline D batteries when I tested it with a multimeter there was current flowing through it meaning it had an internal defect. But since they are so cheap I decided to buy another one hoping I wouldn't have any luck the second time around. The second works great. Its brightness of 55 lumens is enough for normal use and its low power consumption ensures a long battery life. Its white light is a slightly yellowish warm white which I prefer to the harsh cool white spectrum of some LED flashlights/bulbs. In itself a slight yellow tinge is not very noticeable, but compared to cool white lanterns/bulbs the difference is obvious. Just stating the obvious, this LED light has an internal current control circuit that allows you to work with two and six element flashlights. I checked it and the brightness stays about the same whether it's running on 2 or 3 cells, indicating good internal current regulation. I haven't tried this with more than 3 cells yet. This lamp will produce more or less full rated brightness until the batteries are exhausted. Outside the flashlight, it has a perfectly flat, wide radiation pattern. The beam pattern you get after installation depends on the flashlight's reflector. In the case of my Classic 3D Maglite, there is a ring pattern at wider beam settings (a weakness of classic Maglites) and a very narrow, bright, focused beam at maximum focused settings that reaches great distances.
