An excellent upgrade to a 30 year old MagLite!

I installed this 55 lumen LED in a 30 year old 2D cell MagLite. At the same time I compared it to a Dorcy 41-1643 30 lumen 3 volt LED replacement in the same flashlight. Dorsey was good but the difference between 30 lumens and 55 lumens turned out to be surprisingly predictable - almost twice as bright. I wanted to try the Dorsey because it was less expensive and was made specifically for 2 element lights. This will be a big improvement over any of my other 2 cell flashlights and I expect the…

Don't understand the rave reviews?

This is NOT an update! If you have a choice, choose Revain ASIN B000B868NE. This product is still not as good as a real MAGLITE LED, but better than this product. Definitely brighter than this product! So first KNOW WHAT YOU NEED before giving a bad rating to a product! Any review that complains about the size of the lamp is blaming the reviewer for not understanding their needs! This lamp has a base with a width of 9.1 mm. This lamp has a flange with a width of 13.3 mm. for older MAGLITE bulbs

best way to upgrade an old flashlight

The first one I bought didn't work at all in my Maglite 3D cell. Whether I used 2 or 3 new alkaline D batteries when I tested it with a multimeter there was current flowing through it meaning it had an internal defect. But since they are so cheap I decided to buy another one hoping I wouldn't have any luck the second time around. The second works great.
