Some of you might be happy to know that the center brace actually exists. The reason I ordered this particular one is because in the main picture it was without the center brace. I didn't want a bracket in the middle. You don't have to use a center brace, but you do have those non-removable screws sticking out in the middle that are an eyesore. There were also many scratches on the paint. Another note: you will need to use the plastic anchors provided as the studs in the wall are not positioned to fit the holes. I'm giving it two stars because it's at least a very solid shelf, although I wouldn't put too much weight on it as the only thing holding it to the wall are the plastic anchors.
