Good sounding wireless headphones but there are bugs in the software

To take full advantage of these headphones and their capabilities, you must first go to the Roccat website and download the Neon software. This offers the possibility to adjust the equalizer, adjust the RGB lighting, etc. Unfortunately, this software is still in the BETA phase and contains some bugs. More on that later. I am very satisfied with the sound in these headphones for music consumption. I adjusted the EQ to my liking (higher bass and treble and lower mids). I've listened to Muse and Pink Floyd and was very impressed with the sound quality - decent bass and punchy highs. My other PC headphones are Logitech G Pro wired headphones and I find these Roccat Syn Pro Air headphones to sound better. This may be partly due to Logitech's EQ being more limited with only 5 bands available. Now for the not-so-good: The Neon software is currently only in BETA, and it really shows. I found a few issues with the software: - Equalizer settings are lost if you turn on the 3D audio setting and then turn it off again later. Coming back to the EQ tab will disable it, and re-enabling it will make the EQ curve settings flat. I contacted their tech support via the settings icon in the neon software and they confirmed that this is a known issue that will be addressed in a future patch. Lighting configuration is limited to either static color (2 zones) or color. The Wave Effect. There is also an "AIMO" setting for the lighting, but I don't know how it works. I'm assuming it's their old software and I didn't want to install any more RGB controller software at the moment. The screenshots on their website for the software show other options like Breathe, but they're not currently available. Roccat technical support has also confirmed this. Setting static colors is highly counterintuitive. I spent a lot of time figuring out how to set static colors by trying to choose a color from the selector on the left side of the window and then clicking on the zones, thinking that after those clicks the color would be applied , but nothing worked. I eventually figured out that I first had to set the color (as I did) and then drag the small color circle near the center of the color picker onto the zone label text. It really worked. There is no guide I could find for this and I feel lucky to have found it. I also mentioned this to tech support and they agreed it wasn't intuitive and passed it along to the development team. I also had a case (before I figured out how to set static colors) where I switched the color wave. effect and I'm trying to adjust it and after clicking something (I think it was the color wave speed setting) the sound got muted and never came back. I eventually unplugged and plugged the wireless dongle back in, cycled the headphones and the sound came back. I haven't experienced this again, but I'll keep an eye out (or keep my eyes peeled). I've also found that the update software that runs after the initial installation of the Neon software requires you to plug in your headphones. in one go to USB (to upgrade) and I thought maybe that means you could use this wired (via USB) instead of wireless, but I couldn't. I believe the wired USB connection is for headphone firmware updates only, not audio. Finally, in my opinion, everything is fine when it comes to comfort. They're not uncomfortable, but the material of the ear pads and headband is a bit rough. I would have preferred a softer material, such as additional soft fabric ear cushions on my Logitech G Pro headphones. I don't know much about leather or leather-like materials (which the Logitech G model came preloaded with, but soft fabric covers were included in the box, so I replaced them the same day I opened them. No "squeezing" helps in comfort (I have a larger than average "bowler hat"), but they don't feel as secure if I have to look directly at the ground while wearing them - they feel like they're a little under their own weight (They aren't very hard either. I'll be using them full time instead of the wired ones from Logitech for a while and will be on the lookout for software updates/fixes and hopefully the 'latest' non-beta version will shine in Roccat Being planning on porting future products and some older products to Software Neon in the future so I expect updates - hopefully for the better! If they can fix some of these software bugs I would give them a 5-star rating with very little fluctuation, I would give at least 4.5 stars here. In my opinion, a softer headband and ear pads would put it in a solid five.
