This hitch doesn't even come close. I checked the model number on the CURT website and this hitch is recommended for the 2016 Forester. But he doesn't fit. After all the trouble fitting the hitch it was pretty clear it didn't fit. There are two bolts welded to the frame that block the installation of this hitch (see image). But even if those screws weren't there, the hitch doesn't sit low enough to remove the bumper, so you'd have to cut off a piece of the bumper to make it work. This towbar is not suitable for 2016 Subaru Forester.
