Came in the mail today. The disc was in a sleeve, no box, in a yellow Amazon sleeve with bubble wrap. It reads the SD card and USB flash drive, but does not read the hard drive. Tried home movie DVD (previously viewed on Sony Blu-ray player), commercial DVD (previously viewed on Sony Blu-ray player), commercial music CD (previously played on car stereo) and Linux installation CD (to install on used on another computer) . Tried all 4 USB-C ports with USB-C cable and then USB cable with USB-C adapter. Disk is not displayed. Each time the drive spins up as if reading a disc, it then spins and stops, emits 3 soft beeps, pauses for about 3 seconds, then repeats. UPDATE: On Win10, the Element plays through a music CD using a media player. the DVD movie above did not play in media player; I didn't have another media player to try. The home computer is mac os 10.15.6 which is why I got this item. Tested with externally powered USB 2.0 hub - plays music CDs in iTunes and Disney movie DVDs in VLC, but won't read Paw Patrol DVDs or recognize burned DVDs. tried again with the USB 3.0 ports of the computer and no change. UPDATE: Tried again with home computer USB 3.0 ports. item now plays Disney DVD movies in VLC. still does not read the recorded DVD.
