Review on ๐ŸŒฟ The AquaTerrium Planting Tank: Unite Plants and Fish for a Thriving Eco-System! by Ryan Talcott

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like the look, but not quite perfect.

I like the overall look of this aquarium. I've been looking for something like this for a long time, I have it on my kitchen bar and it adds a great little conversation piece. However, a few things keep it from getting 5 stars. 1) The pump does not appear to be large enough to provide "good" waterfall action and circulation. It is sufficient to allow the water to flow over the planting areas, but it is not. do a lot for the pool surface. Haven't tried a bigger pump yet, but I can. However, I am currently losing about 1 inch of water per day due to evaporation, so this needs to be addressed first. 2) The pods are small, I've had them for about a month and I had to replace the plants because the root system is too big for the pods. Either some holes are required to let the roots through, or they need to be slightly larger overall. (You can try to drill holes later) 3) To hide the heater on the back, you need to modify the 3-chamber filter system. I fitted a Tetra 26447 immersion heater but I had to knock out a piece of plastic on the back. The filter media is just a sponge that works, but depending on what you're doing with the tank, it may need fixing. 4) There is a big gap where the top of the stone meets the base. I used some food grade silicone to fill the gap to allow the water to flow properly. All of these issues are minor in my opinion and can be fixed with a few modifications that a normal hobbyist would make anyway. I currently have things like lucky bamboo and other water loving plants. I also had basil, but it got too big and had to be removed (issue 2). I have 6 fish of different sizes. I know I'll have to move a few of them eventually but they look great in the aquarium at the moment. There are currently albino catfish, 3 infinite male carriers, and 2 clown char (tiny, temporary to help with snail population). I also have some underwater plants and my water parameters are perfect, I only have to add about half a liter of water every other day because of evaporation.
