Review on 🌐 TP-Link TG-3468 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express Network Card: PCIE Adapter for PC with Win10 Support by Melissa Merkel

Affordable and does the job

I tried an Intel PCIE 1.0 Dual Port NIC but it didn't work. So I gave this one a try as all my TP-Link switches were reliable and the reviews were good. As other reviewers have pointed out, it comes with a tiny driver disk for most operating systems. Windows 7 and pfSense worked without a disk. As I haven't seen anyone explicitly mention this, the card comes with a full-height bracket and a spare low-profile bracket. I mention this because not all cards that advertise a low-profile mount come with a full-height mount. That doesn't always happen, but it does happen. I urgently needed a new router. I had an HTPC that was gathering dust in the closet that housed my networking gear. So I decided to turn it into a pfSense box by installing pfSense on a flash drive. That way I can just pop out the flash drive if I ever decide to convert it back to HTPC. I needed an extra port for my pfSense box so I could separate my WiFi from my wired network. I would have preferred a dual port NIC just to have an extra port for future expansion, but the second port wasn't really necessary. Anyway, in the future I might just buy something better to work with pfSense. The card uses Realtek chips, but I don't see that as a problem anymore. If you want to use it in a more demanding environment, you will probably only see Intel products anyway. This is the motherboard that my pfSense box uses.
