Review on 💪 Powerful AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X Processor for Enhanced Performance (YD295XA8AFWOF) by Cole Dutta

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing processor, but RESEARCH

I love that enterprise-class hardware is now available to the masses at insane prices ($850 vs. $1800 for the i9-7960X), but it's also phasing out problem for people who "better" without properly setting up their PC, resulting in a poor experience. Here is a short list of recommendations: 1. Make sure your motherboard has the latest BIOS updates especially if it's a first generation Threadripper board. Although compatible with Gen 2 Ryzen, it may not work without updating the BIOS first. Make sure your RAM is at least CL 14 - CL 16 with Quad Channel DDR4 Ram 3200MHz The Infinity Fabric Threadripper is EXTREMELY memory hungry and without fast RAM the latency can cause bottlenecks under heavy render loads You may need to update your BIOS eren to see that your RAM is running at around 3200MHz since mine was fixed at 2400MHz until I did an update that allowed me to reach higher frequencies. GET THE RIGHT FRIDGE. Many companies lie about their support for the TR4 platform when they actually only cover about 75% of the CPU. At the moment only Cooler Master Wraith Ripper and Enermax TR4 can do their jobs properly. I went with Enermax (1st gen was rubbish but 2nd gen seems to hold up I think) and I'm seeing 55-60 temps at full load. At the end of the day, yes you will be able to run fortnight in 5 different instances while streaming at 1440p BUT I hope that anyone thinking of getting this type of system will start learning CAD, Adobe Premier etc. Now you have a machine designed to do the job and it would be a shame not to maximize the return on investment from such equipment.
