Finally started replacing identical filter media from my old canister filter after 2 years of use. This works very well, although every time I've cleaned the filter I've noticed that the small beads have fallen apart a bit and there have always been small pieces at the bottom of my filter. This has never been an excessive amount so I'm fine with that as long as the fine filter pads can continue to keep particles out of the impeller. Additionally, my 55-gallon freshwater stays stable thanks to a strong bacterial colony that lives in the environment.
