In January 2017 I bought two of these devices and a GermGuardian AC5250PT. Tonight (April 25) my wife smelled a burning odor - the smell was very strong. We knew something was smoldering in the house and ran from room to room to find it. The smell appeared to be coming from the GermGuardian AC4825, but we couldn't tell for sure. I took it to the garage where there was no smell and sniffed the vents, but I still wasn't sure if GermGuardian was the source of the burning smell. I had to make sure the source was GermGuardian. If not, then something else was burning in our house! So I removed the cover and indeed the circuit board under the controls was badly burned! The crazy thing is that the device was still working - still blowing air and seemed to be working fine. The fuse on the circuit board didn't even blow! If we weren't home, this thing could burn our house down. I called Revain and they refunded me for all three units I bought. I will return these devices as soon as possible. I asked a Revain representative to inform the manufacturer.
