I've had the AX1 for a few months and have found it to work as advertised. I have no major complaints and as an enthusiast it does pretty much everything I bought it for. It's great for taking two (TRS) mics, like a lavalier and a shotgun, and mixing them into a (TRS) audio input for my camera. I really like the headphone jack which allows me to preset and/or control audio levels. I mainly used my iPhone which is notorious for its poor sound quality. I usually set up the AX1 to accept a mic input, giving me a headphone output and an iPhone output (via a TRRS adapter). I've recently switched to a DSLR camera and the only real complaint about the AX1 is that it's not easy to mount under a DSLR as the AX3 can only be top and side mounted. It's well made with a solid metal frame and I think it's too heavy to balance on my new DSLR's upper shoe mount. I assume that to be able to use this device for a long time, I will have to come up with some kind of camera mount. If I did it again I would apparently spend a few bucks more on AX3 instead of AX1. do everything I currently have, plus the ability to use XLR mic cables.
