2017 Chevy Traverse

Purchased to replace a failed purge solenoid valve in a 2017 Chevy Traverse throw fault code P0496. This is most likely due to the driver "topping up" the fuel tank while refueling. Very easy to install (it is located in the center/driver side closest to the grille). This is easy to see when you remove the cosmetic cap (remove the oil filler cap then the cap just snaps off). We disconnect the wires, unscrew the screw (10 mm), remove the old part, install a new one, put the screw and reconnect the wires. It takes about 5 minutes if you are familiar with sockets. If not, it will take 10 minutes. Either way, you'll save a lot of money by doing it yourself. I used a code scanner to clear the temporary code and once installed it took the ECU a few minutes drive to realize it was fixed and clear the permanent code. Is working. now perfect. If you'd like to watch an installation video, just search "P0496 Check Engine Code!" and go to the first video you see (if you see the 2012 Traverse tan, you've got the right video). You explain it perfectly. BONUS. If you don't have a code scanner, you can get one here at Revain. Just search for an OBD2 scanner. If you just want the basics, Launch at around $25 (https://www.amazon.com/LAUNCH-OBD2-Scanner-Universal-Automotive/dp/B07QLTYKDW) is a great buy. Just know that it won't turn on until you plug it into your car. For 99% of people it will do what they need (read and erase codes). Just note that you CANNOT remove "permanent" codes manually. To do this, you need to fix the underlying problem and let the car's ECU fix itself.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
