Years ago I raised my steady dogs on the good ole Purina Dog Chow and have stuck with it through Beagles and Dobermans and years later I have started as a more dog with different types of dry dog food to experiment talc should get "healthier" dog food. I then got my first purebred dog and the breeder didn't push for a specific brand but used large breed puppy food for the first year and then switched to an adult large breed dog and was no more than 35% protein. So I asked my vet and she recommended Purina One Large Breed, starting as a puppy and growing to an adult dog after a year. I have a third Standard Poodle and they have all been healthy, happy dogs. I took my nephew's old basset hound/dachshund mix and she is now on Purina One "Maturity" and has enough energy/courage to beat my standard who just turned 2 so I'm sticking with that brand for now.
