Review on GlobalSat 11 GB580 004A Cadence Sensor by Scott Spoja

Great sensor for tadpoles!

I recently purchased a tadpole tricycle (two wheels in front and one in back) for long trips and commutes. I ride 150+ rides several times a year and also ride my bike/tricycle more than 30 miles daily. The trike makes it much more comfortable for long-distance rides, although it does make mounting the computer a little more of a challenge given the position of the crank and front wheels. So I needed separate speed and cadence sensors that could be connected to my Cateye Stealth 50. A GPS computer. Most of the sensors I found were integrated into a single speed/cadence unit that mounted to the bike's rear bracket and reads the magnets on the rear wheel and crank. Unfortunately, on a tricycle, the handlebars and wheels are not close enough for the built-in sensor to work. I took a chance with the GlobalSat sensors as they were the only ones I could find as separate ANT+ sensors. I was unfamiliar with the GlobalSat brand and couldn't find many reviews so it was a roll of the dice. So far I am very satisfied with the sensor. Installing it on my tricycle was very easy and connecting ANT+ to my Cateye computer was just as easy. I've ridden a few hundred miles and it's still going strong. It always connects directly to my computer (which I take with me to charge overnight). I'll probably buy another one of these when I need to replace a sensor on my bike. I will update this review if I need to replace the batteries first to give an idea of the battery life in this sensor. Update (May 6, 2015): The sensors are still working great. I haven't had to change batteries yet and have ridden it for over 2000 miles. I will definitely use them to replace other sensors when they fail.

Works great, on both an ANT+ bike computer, and my S5 phone.
