At first I thought I'd have to return this before I could ever use it. The instructions say to place the spring on the base of the iron behind the handle. This was not possible with the design of my iron. But with a simple modification it works fine. All I needed was a pair of pliers to bend the wire connecting the spring so I could loosen it and slide it under the handle. A VERY simple solution that took me about 30 seconds. Once installed it works exactly as described. It protects the fabric so I don't get any shine or problems even when ironing wool at the highest temperature. The only tiny sheen on anything was when I forgot to turn it off and used it on viscose at high heat. And even that didn't harm the fabric. Had it been designed with a detachable spring it would have been a five star rating. I would like it to be easier to remove for cleaning and not need to be modified to make it work. But it was indeed a slight modification, so overall I'd call it a minor complaint once I figured it out.
