First, the spring is difficult to attach to the iron. Second, the iron never seemed to heat up properly when turned on. I took it off and it's on the shelf. Disappointed because I liked the idea.

I tried to install on a closed back iron, it didn't work, the spring snapped, I think I'll have to secure it with zip ties. the packaging and the iron that comes with it are three decades old.

This needs to be modified with an adjustable Velcro strap or something as it definitely won't work on my Rowenta. and everyone knows Roventa. enjoys great popularity. so it's not for me, very disappointed, maybe such a simple manufacturer solution.

The coating on it started peeling off after about a week. It started to cling to clothing (plain cotton) and when I looked closely it had numerous dents as well. If I used it on more delicate garments they would be ruined! Not cheap, but cheaply made!

Not good if you have a solid handle iron. Suitable for irons with an open rear handle. Has a spring that attaches to the iron and slides over the back of the iron when the handle is open at the back. Otherwise there is no way to attach a spring to the iron to hold the plate.

At first I thought I'd have to return this before I could ever use it. The instructions say to place the spring on the base of the iron behind the handle.
