Have you ever loved to laugh at yourself? Well it took me forever to figure out how to separate the top of the screen from the bottom. I kept thinking "I'm missing something"... it turned out to be one of those funny moments. So if you're like me and this is your first time using a container like this, the top of the strainer INSERTS into the base. You don't get up! To remove, gently push on one side of screen piece to slide INTO base...opposite side WILL PUSH OUT. Then you can take it and take out the screen part. HAVE FUN!
