Review on Torchstar Dimmable Retrofit Lighting for Industrial Electrical Systems by Andrew Walton

So close but too high

Easy to install, light worked well with my dimmer, slight residual flicker when off but eventually faded completely. Not sure if it's just the size of our 4" cans, but we couldn't get them to sit flush with the ceiling. Most of these LED mods really take the size to the extreme without leaving enough room to accommodate it. due to slight differences in the installation of the case. We had about 3.5 inches of space between the Edison connection and the ceiling. They show 3.43 inches from the base and trim, but this doesn't account for the wire attachment at the end. That's enough to install it flush with an annoying gap. I installed it without the Edison mount and it sat flush. , just what I wanted. If they had the wire on the side of the nozzle instead of the bottom it might work and save the 1/8 to 1/4 inch that would make a difference. Too bad they can't make them much smaller so that won't be a problem. I ended up returning them as the brightness and color were too great and the boss vetoed it, which saved me having to dive into the attic to try and adjust the 6 1/4 inch cases to that the lights were flush. Still a great price and great to see the quality of LED lighting just keep getting better. I'm still looking for these, they just need to be smaller and a cream or seashell white finish would be great as I don't know how many people actually have that white on their quilts.

Pros
  • 💡High color rendering index for excellent color rendering, 850lm super bright on low consumption, 120° wide beam angle
Cons
  • Doubtful
