Review on ๐Ÿ”‘ Keychron K1 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Low Profile Gateron Blue Switch, White LED Backlight, USB C - 87 Keys N-Key Rollover for Mac Windows PC Gamer-Version 4 by Rob Bishop

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Disappointed: 5-button DOA connectors and mechanics

Item arrived brand new, key 5 was dead on arrival. I checked the keychron website and the reviews there seem to be an echo of some pretty terrible quality assurance for number keys for some reason so I've had no luck finding one with the getting the same problem. I really needed this college keyboard during my writing GCSEs and ended up having to keep another old keyboard next to my K1 to use the 5 key (which was more annoying than I thought). It was pissed off enough, but customer service through keychron was slow and confusing. They wanted me to send the video and all the information about my Revain order before they did. some. They never said what they would do to fix the problem and I couldn't do without a keyboard for the finale. I stopped writing and gave up out of frustration. Also, the battery life is terrible and I don't trust the Bluetooth connectivity for gaming (unlike Logitech's Lightspeed, for example). I want my products to be as easy to maintain as possible, especially when it comes to technology, and the K1 wasn't quite literally from the moment I opened the box. Also, the charging cable is very short and of rather cheap quality, which didn't improve my attitude towards the product at all. However, I still wired it up the entire time. Others had lots of connection issues which I can't personally attest to as I couldn't connect it at all and the battery was so bad it didn't matter anyway. Anyway, some things I liked. A: The typing feel is actually pretty decent. I used it for writing essays in college and was happy with the performance. Some complain about the required actuation pressure, but you can get used to that. I also use it daily for gaming and it works great in any genre including FPS. It's also fairly unobtrusive as I don't need a wrist rest, which is nice as it reduces bulk and also saves me the hassle of strained hands after a long typing or gaming session. The keycaps feel cheap, but they're well spaced, which I appreciate. Overall I REALLY want to like this keyboard especially for the price and had high hopes for it but ultimately I don't recommend you to buy this keyboard. It's a shame as flat mechanical keyboards are still a niche market and other options are a bit more expensive, but the disappointment really made it impossible for me to overlook the bad. So what have I done? ? I am returning this keyboard. I almost bought a new keyboard of the same type to see if I got any luck, but the issues I had here were enough and I finally just gritted my teeth and bought a Logitech 915 instead. It's literally almost triple the price but so far these issues are not fixed by keychron, i just need something that i know works and can rely on without worrying about weird niche issues and a company, that doesn't respond the quickest. to problems. Again, I wanted to love K1 but I can't yet. I recommend looking elsewhere if you can afford it.
