Finally listened to the vet and glad I did

Our English bulldog puppy had horrible soft stools when we first adopted him and fed him a Royal Canin recommended breeder. I stuck with it for a while and then moved it to Honest Kitchen. She liked the food, but mixing and storing had its downsides. Our vet had the Hills Science diet, but I read online that vets get paid to deliver, so instead I read and read and read everything I could get my hands on and eventually settled on grain-free food for try our dog. She loved it, her chair was great, her coat was perfect and we thought we had a solution. Until she got a rash. I took her to the vet and he asked what I was feeding her. do not feed them the HIS-recommended Hills Science diet. He looked at me and said grain free dog food is now being linked to heart disease in dogs! I picked up a packet of Hills Sensitive Stomach just to calm him down while I was contemplating what to do with the 50 pound bag of "bad" grain free food I just ordered! I returned home and researched further only to find out that our vet was our dogs best friend. The food I used was of a very high quality but was also listed as one of the worst I could choose to have if I had a heart problem. As I read in another post, TALK TO YOUR VET. TRUST YOUR VET! I've been told that Science Diet pays veterinarians to distribute their product and grants scholarships to veterinary students for promoting their product. I still don't know if that's true, but our dog is fine, her coat is fine, she can't get enough of this food and her stools are really hard and not liquid. Bulldogs have their own issues and ours was no exception, but I literally have to thank our vet for putting us on a scientific diet. This will give us our dog for years to come and we hope others will try before heart disease takes their furry friend.
