Review on Enhance Air Quality with Mopar Cabin Air Filter by Kenny Davey

Basically garbage for filter

It all seems garbage. Bought for a 2010 Grand Cherokee and what a joke. I read other reviews that said people tried their best not to break their tongue and did it anyway and I laughed to myself. Well, needless to say I broke the tab. So let's start with that. The tally is so tiny I can't believe anyone in their right mind thought this would ever make a difference, that person should be fired like their boss for lack of oversight. He would say the tab is about 1/4 the size of the tab on the screen that appears on the vehicle (which this part is intended to replace). Even if the tab worked, it's fair to say it was Mopar's cheap attempt at not developing a new part, since I'd say it was originally made for an older Grand Cherokee. The case barely closes the airflow opening. So let's say you got to this point and managed to attach it without damaging it and you managed to position it perfectly to create a nice area around the duct and the crappy attachment held this part in place. Keep the seal, if all of this has served you well, guess which Jeep has about a dozen other quarter-sized holes running the length of the metal frame that actually allow the air to bypass the filter entirely! I'm pretty sure most of it gets through the filter, but it definitely won't get anywhere near a closed air intake, so it still doesn't have a clean, filtered air environment. Awesome, someone was paid to develop this. Well, if you're a perfectionist like me and determined to have a truly airtight cabin air filter, you can do it with some effort and a few hours of your time. I drilled 1.1/4 holes in the other end and used the existing holes in the frame to attach it with a rivet. Rivets are also used on the inside. I've used plastic to make them easier to break if needed for some reason. I then bypassed the filter housing with silicone and made some plugs to cover all the other holes so now the only way for air is to flow through the filter. In short, if you're not willing to put in some effort, it's a waste of money as you'll be bringing in unfiltered air anyway.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Useless functions
