Has potential but. for my opinion

I really wanted to like these and was excited to receive them, however, once I got them I realized that they were not going to work the way I intended them to. I have an HTC One Mini which I feel is a fairly slim phone coupled with a slender Incipio case. My phone fits okay into the stand in the vertical position but does not fit in the horizontal position which is the much more practical, stable way I planned to use this, especially b/c you could use the stand AND charge at the same time, something you can not do if you have a charging port on the bottom of your phone (which most people do). I guess the phone+case is slightly more rounded on the ends which prevents the hands fitting around that area. You can prop the phone up in the horizontal position against the hands/thumbs but it will not slide into the hands and when you remove the phone you had better hold the stand or it will go shooting across whatever surface you have it on. In addition, when my phone is placed in the vertical position it is almost straight up and down, does not lean at all away from the viewer. So for instance, if you have this on your desk at work you will likely be looking more down on top of the phone instead of at the face of the phone, unless you have it pushed to the back of your desk. If the thumbs were angled somewhat to the rear it would fix this problem. Also, the middle section between the hands is flexible but it does not appear to be flexible in a permanent way - it bends but does not necessarily stay in the position you bend it to. So if you are able to stretch it and fit your phone into the hands in the horizontal position, the stand will shrink back once the phone is removed, prompting you to flex it out each time you want to place your phone in it. For someone coming and going a lot throughout the day, this is impractical. Also note that the farther apart the hands are the angle of the hand opening also changes, potentially limiting what you can slide in there. So if you have a slender phone with no case this might work for you in the horizontal position with a few caveats, if not, I would steer clear. These are cute and inexpensive but they need a few tweaks to be much more universally usable. There are very few people who do not have a phone case on their phones these days. I'm really kind of surprised that these have the number of high reviews that they do, considering my phone specs and the number of people who must have had the same experience, the high reviews seem suspicious I haven't decided yet whether I will keep these or not.

Pros
  • They are great.
Cons
  • Suction cups can wear out over time
