The heavy bag smelled so bad at first that I wanted to return it. But after a few days on my porch the smell got better and after a few weeks it was completely gone. This heavy bag is very strong and durable. Filling the bag is very easy - no problem. I had to empty and refill the pouch several times to get it to my liking. At the very bottom I poured 2 bags of rubber mulch 18 inches high. Then I shed the clothes, towels, and sheets by almost a foot. Then she mixed foam and clothes and blankets to the brim. I didn't want the bag to be so stiff that it would "numb the nerves" or "train" my calves against heavy Muay Thai roundhouse kicks. I'm in my 50s - too old for this. The rubber mulch feels too hard so it's only on the bottom. I highly recommend using a heavy pocket spring when hanging this bag. I use a 100 lb spring. At the moment I have it filled to 90 pounds. The spring helps absorb the impact of the bag against the beams above. The surface of the bag is very smooth. Excellent bag. UPDATE: I don't leave this bag hanging when not in use. It is very easy to drop it or lift it on a block of wood to detach and attach. I've had this bag for a year now. I hit him with hard muay thai kicks, back roundhouse kicks, front kicks etc in shoes and the bag is still tight. No need to overpay for a heavy bag. Just make sure you understand you must be at least 8ft tall to hang this. After a year of abuse as you can see in the picture the straps started to wear out. I had to pin them up a bit (see 2nd photo) and sew them up with an upholstery needle and thread. The strap ends are now much stronger than originally. I assume this bag will last a few more years. 2nd Update: After 2 full years the stainless steel triangles at the ends of the bands have become thinner due to metal-on-metal friction. I wanted to rip the seams of the webbing, flip the triangle, and then sew the webbing back together. But I saw this heavy bag on sale and bought 2 more bags. The cost of other heavy bags is so high now that it was too easy to buy more heavy bags. These heavy bags are great and serve the purpose the muay thai bag was designed for. Why pay much more? I admit that the leather of the bag is a bit cracked and the lettering is a bit faded. But there is nothing functional or cardinal about it.
