I bought these for my daughter, a 2007 Scion TC. This is an easy 10 minute job that anyone can do without getting ripped off by taking your car for this project. I just used a flathead screwdriver to pry the metal clips off the hinges. New shocks come with new clips, no tools are required to install new shocks, just push in until the clips snap into place. Remove one shock absorber at a time. to ensure that the new shock absorbers are fitted in the same orientation, rather than fitting them upside down. Please make sure the metal clips are tight, to avoid injury, gently pull the connecting links before closing the sunroof. Once the hatch is closed the shock absorber is under extreme pressure, someone can definitely get hurt if the shock absorber is not securely engaged. Try it out with the flap fully open (because the damper is not yet under pressure), if the damper is engaged, you are out of the danger area. I don't want to discourage anyone from doing this project on their own. It's an amazing feeling when you do the work yourself, just take your time and be safe. Some colleagues argued that these shocks were too strong and abruptly opened the hatch. I was afraid to replace both shock absorbers (since only one seemed too strong to hold the sunroof) based on these negative reviews. After a reluctant replacement of both dampers, they worked. Great, I had no problems. Make sure you do this project on a flat surface with the car tilted, which will definitely affect the balance of the sunroof, making it heavier or lighter. Now the hatch opens and closes. like when it was new. I can't say anything about the durability of the shock absorbers, but I will contact you if there are any problems. Sorry for the long post, thanks and good luck.
