Review on Berry Plastics Film Gard Polyethylene Sheeting by Nick Beck

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well as a weed barrier and lasts for years when covered with coarse mulch.

Our two unit Chicago building has been neglected for decades and is completely overgrown with weeds, garbage seedlings and abandoned vineyards. Glaze. Repeated round-up treatments killed about 80%, but the vines were ingrained and kept coming back, so I pulled out as much as I could by hand and then covered the whole floor with a larger version of the same plastic wrap. The four mils are thick enough to be quite strong and choke out almost any surviving weed or creeper. covered the plastic with 2 inches of coarse mulch to keep it in place. Three years later, vegetation is thriving and the only weeds are from seeds caught in the mulch, which can be easily pulled out by hand or sprayed with Round Up. Bought this reel to replace plastic in my backyard vegetable garden. because I wanted to move the tomato plants to new places. The old plastic was still in good condition, but I had cut so many crosses to replant plants over the years that weeds were able to grow in unused holes. It was easy to roll up the old plastic with the rest of the mulch and put in a new strip. Six cuts later, the new starter plants were in place and surrounded by a fresh layer of mulch. This is a great product for this application so you can enjoy your plants and shrubs without having to deal with weeds.
