I was having a short time trying to find an iPad mini compatible knee brace solution for a single pilot commercial IFR cockpit and saw this item on Revain. Overall it does the job but I just feel like it could be a lot better. It does the main job of keeping the EFB on the leg. (And even mostly where I want it to be most of the time.) But even with the appropriate tilt pads, it's still too unstable for a five-star rating. It's sloppy even if you increase the leg strap. The weakest link is that it is least stable in the "portrait" orientation of the EFB device (not the screen), which is what I use most often with my EFB display. The notable benefit of this device is that it looks well built. This goes with the paper knee pads I've been using for years. No one can make them last forever and I'm pretty sure this strap will wear out over time (as other reviews say). However, out of the box it is still more reliable than most cabin organization products. Nice. Another advantage is the support of different platforms (iPad, AMZ Fire, Google Nexus). It also solves the tricky task of letting you do it with something as thick as the Otterbox Defender on your EFB. Most EFB owners cannot do this and will require you to keep the EFB anyway. (Experience and two broken iPads have proven this isn't a good idea.) The problem with being good at many things is that they're not very good at any particular EFB that I've been able to use. This review is primarily for the iPad mini (5th generation) that I use with ForeFlight. My biggest complaint is that the strap is sturdiest for you in landscape mode: mainly because the EFB clip strap only fits on the Mini one way. (top/bottom) which exposes the EFB to only about half of the footstrap's available Velcro. When using the EFB in landscape mode, the entire band of the EFB clip strap, the Velcro, can be hooked in, resulting in a literally 100% more stable mount (because the area to be fastened is doubled). I'm just not a fan of this design. Even using the included "tilt pads" to lock in the stability of a portrait setup is a recipe for frustration. Combined with that, the "toggle pads" tend to fall off or pop out when you remove the leg strap, so you'll have to fiddle with the black. colored objects on the floor of a dark cabin. I'm guessing where this contraption came from, but offer more brainstorming on how to implement it. I can understand the criticism of the price. If it matched the smaller EFB in portrait mode, you'd get a lot fewer complaints. Otherwise it's just a set of straps and Velcro that were clearly not designed specifically for the smaller EFB. The result is a feeling that it's a bit overpriced for what it is, accurate or not. But take it or leave it. This is the best available item I could find at the time that will fit your iPad mini (5th gen) while in a thick case like the Otterbox.
