Great option that doesn't use the RAV4's vertical vents and adhesive

As you know by reading this review the RAV4 has vertical vents. (At least my 2017). This makes it difficult to use a phone holder that attaches to air vents. When I had an iPhone 7 Plus I had a magnetic phone holder that worked pretty well, but I had to put a metal disc in my case to give the magnet enough sticking power. When I switched to the iPhone 12 Pro, it was magnetic. Charger. I tried putting a metal disc in the case as before but it blocked my magnetic charger from being used and the phone would fall out of the holder from time to time. This prompted me to look for a holder that didn't use a magnet and wouldn't snag on the air vents. It was the best combination of functionality and price I could find. It seemed like a daunting installation as it would require prying open the silver trim at the front of the dash, but the holder came with a cool tool that allowed me to lift it up and slide the back of the holder down fairly easily push. Presto - sticks well to my dashboard without suction cups or glue! The mount is easy to use, you simply lower the phone through your upper arms and the weight of the phone causes the 2 small 'grips' to grab the phone and it sits securely in the bottom groove of the mount. I removed the star because it's difficult to push the holder fully onto the base and I had it loose once. But overall it was pretty stable and puts the phone in the perfect position for viewing and switching apps while I drive. Nice solution to a tricky RAV4 problem!
