At vacation spots with more serious hiking/full-day hikes, my wife and I take our own daypacks with water tanks. Being at home and doing shorter/intermediate hikes in all weathers, we were looking for a backpack that could hold enough water for both of us without each of us carrying a bottle in each hand. Simple convenience. The 2.5 liter is a great volume for covering fairly decent distances and warm weather hikes. Additional storage is available if needed. The backpack is comfortable and fairly adjustable (I'm 6ft 2ft, 205lbs) and I was able to adjust it just fine without even noticing the backpack. Osprey is always high quality and looks very stylish.
