Nice paring knife.

I'll start by saying I expected a good knife for $30, but not necessarily because all the statements are true. Now purists will be quick to point out that genuine Damascus steel is local and enumerate the art of making bent steel, but let's not let that formality hold us back. Damascus is often used to describe a pattern. It may be laser engraved (fake), but in recent years folded steel has become much more industrial and affordable. This blade appears to be made of bent steel, which is definitely a bit of a surprise at this price point. The knife comes out of its plain packaging quite sharp, like most new knives. The difference is how well the knife holds its edge, and I'll have to wait to find out. At least everything seems to be going well at first. The wooden handle is nice, there is no transition to the steel edge and the fit is great. Rivets have a standard design. The curved blade makes it look a little dated, but also allows for a little more control over carving or chipping that you don't get with a straight blade. The nuance is that you should not spoil the beauty in the dishwasher. It's hand wash only if you want it to look nice. Also, bent steel is sometimes prone to rusting if the blade is left wet and dirty for a long time. Wash and dry immediately after use and it's good.
