I use it to filter oil in my fryer. Because of the plastic strainer, you must carefully monitor the oil temperature with a food thermometer. I pour into a storage bottle and strain that funnel/filter when the oil gets to 150-180 degrees F, too hot and the funnel melts! Too cold and the oil will not run through the filter screen. I tried using a coffee filter but the flow was even slower. The funnel is only about 4 inches in diameter, so pouring directly from a small oven is very problematic. I use a trowel and it goes well.
