This review focuses primarily on Hash 2 (which you can now buy on Amazon for $50 less), but with my general comments scattered throughout each category. I also gave hesh 2 a score of 4, I really liked these headphones but they had a couple of major flaws, one of which was the massive flashing blue light that was always on with Bluetooth, a generally bulbous style that left a lot of room between the head. and the strap and overall comfort (they were fine for about an hour but the ear holes were too small and put pressure on your ears). But they sounded good, they were built to last (used for 2 years with moderate use and no issues), they were cheaper and generally worked well. Enter Hesh 3 Wireless. I was very excited about these headphones as I loved the hesh 2 and hoped they would fix some of the biggest flaws. The good news is that they fixed almost all of the fatal bugs. The bad news is that there are a few new things that can become problematic over time. Style I went for dark black and they look really good. Gone are the days of flashy neon with the eye-catching Skullcandy logo. They look like your standard headphones and fit snugly around your head for a more standard design. They're similar to the wireless Skullcandy Crusher if you're familiar with them. Sound I think they sound pretty good, maybe a little mellower than the Hesh 2 as I didn't notice that bass, but the music sounded cleaner. They seemed to fit most genres of music. Audiophiles probably won't like it, but why buy Skullcandy headphones at all? Buttons If you're familiar with other Skullcandy headphones, the buttons are pretty much the same. There's an up-down button and a middle button, and they've fixed the position so that the power button is now the middle button instead of the bottom where you sometimes accidentally overlook it. There's not much to say about the buttons, there are only 3. Also, the blue spike on the display is much smaller and doesn't blink as often. It's way better than Hesh 2. Sometimes I had to double check to make sure they were even on! build quality. So I took off the star. The build quality on them seems very suspect. The entire outer shell directly on the sides of the headphones is made of plastic. And not the pretty plastic used in other headphones like the Beats or Sony, it's a cheap glossy plastic that I could eventually completely smash if the user isn't careful with it. The earbuds fold up for easy portability, but have rotary side hinges, which are also covered in plastic and seem to be a weak point even with prolonged use. Overall I was very disappointed with the build quality of these glasses. I think for $129 at launch they could have upgraded to a higher quality plastic. Comfort is also a big plus. They really enlarged the ear hole to really fit your ears. After adjusting them properly, I was very impressed with the convenience of these cans. The earbuds are very soft and conform to the ear instantly, unlike the hesh 2 which took several days of continuous use for the earbuds to become tolerable. The strap is soft on top and doesn't seem to have a problem with too much pressure on the head. in general they are very comfortable. Battery Life The charging port is on the bottom of the earbud where it should be and works as expected. They're rated for 22 hours and I haven't had to recharge them yet. very good battery life compared to Hash 2 with 15 hours (still decent). They also have a charging function that gives you several hours of use after a 15-minute charge. very good Accessories Unfortunately there is no carrying case or even a case like the hesh 2. Luckily they fold down to the same size as many other foldable headphones so I was able to put them in the case I already had for another pair. Comes with a charging cable and an extra 3.5mm cable. The advantage of the 3.5mm cable is that the microphone works without a battery. So if you run out of juice, you can still use the microphone feature. I tried this once on a phone with the aux cable attached and it seemed to work fine. the other person had no hearing problems. I have not tested the bluetooth microphone function. I still think the Sony xb650bt is the best option if you're looking for heavier Bluetooth headphones. but that's ok for what they need to do. I love that Skullcandy improved on all of the hesh 2's shortcomings but was disappointed with the plastic construction. Sound comfort and style, these are good headphones and probably what most people are looking for. Just be careful with them.
