Review on Edifier R1280DB Wireless Studio Monitors - Powered Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers with Optical Input - 4 Inch Near Field Speaker - Enhanced Wooden Grain Finish - 42w RMS by Abhi GC ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The product is the most common, it could be worse.

I took them to replace my ancient Microlab B75, bought back in 2022. They now cost 2-3k on ebay. I thought that acoustics for 9k would sound at least as good, but I turned on these and realized that all the magic from the music was gone. The lack of upper bass, of course, can be slightly corrected with a software equalizer, but such a thing will not work through bluetooth. I issued a refund, I'll take the Edifier R2750DB for a replacement. In general, of course, nothing surprising, at the time of purchase the microlabs cost $250, against ~$130 for these.

Pros
  • - appearance - sound pretty clean - bluetooth - size and weight
Cons
  • Failure in the frequency response in the region of 90-130 Hz. It is unlikely that it is a marriage, most likely a feature of the speakers, but, as it turned out, it is this range that gives a feeling of drive in music. Something fatal is no pleasure to listen to at all.
