The first time we bought a new replacement filter after buying our new fridge we got hit with sticker shock. Obviously we should have looked when buying the appliance, but we didn't and $50 wasn't anything to sneeze at. Since then we have found the off-brand ones to be as good as the GE one, but usually half the cost or less. This filter is no different; it's easy to install and appears to work just as we expect it to. I will definitely keep an eye on this one for our next purchase as it's only a few dollars more than the one we regularly buy, but with price fluctuations you never know.
