Review on 5 Pairs Of Vintage Soft Wool Socks - Thick Knit Cozy Winter Socks For Women Gifts by Michael Vargas

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Thin, stiff acrylic feel, but not horrible.

Listing states they are for U.S. size 5-9. I wear 10, my daughter is a size 9. They fit her fairly comfortably. They also fit me. Tight, but not uncomfortably so. They really aren't very warm. I'm a knitter. The yarn is thinner than normal sock yarn. Feels stiff & a bit scratchy, just like cheap acrylic yarn. Wool is my favorite yarn to work with. I have a lot of experience w/ different types & qualities of wool yarn. My opinion is- I doubt there is any wool fiber in this yarn at all. The warmth & feel I'm familiar with, in even wool blend yarns, is not present in these socks. Just my opinion.I did not find an excessive amnt of "loose yarn" on the inside of my socks, as another reviewer mentioned. What I found is what is to be expected from color-work patterned knits worked on a machine that is set on a loose setting to allow for stretch. From the previous reviewer's photo, it looks to me that the machine setting was extra loose when her socks were made.I don't hate these socks & we will wear them. The colors are bright. However, when going outside in snow- I will wear real wool socks. I think these are too thin to protect against that kind of cold. These are fine for normal cool temps. Are they worth the 3.60/pair I paid for these? Meh. Not if you're expecting wool socks. I wouldn't call it a deal, but I also don't feel ripped off enough to return them. They're fine. Just don't expect warm, soft wool blend socks.
