My wife and I are professional wedding photographers and use Canon 5D Mark III and all lenses L. 50L was our first L and we've bought it since 24- 70L, 70-200 2.8IS, 85L and 100L Macro. 24-70 is a great workhorse but when 2.8 isn't enough we use 50. At 1.2 at about 3m the face you want to focus on is very sharp and the background has great bokeh. Very soft and not too much. Of course, the closer we get, the crazier 1.2 is going to be. Once when I focused on my son's face while he was sleeping, his nose was sharp but his eyes were not. But that's not the purpose of this lens. Well, it's to the point, just not to that point. Prime lenses are always very sharp, and their aperture is always better than zooms. If you are looking for a versatile lens I would highly recommend the Fifty. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a 35 if shooting with a 5D2 as the purple fringing is some of the worst I've seen. But at 5D3 and 50 f/1.2 I never saw a purple border. Is always. That's great. take action. You will not regret it.
